Campaign Plot Line
Out of the bowels of the underworld rode the four horseman. Leading them was a pearl horse, its rider hungry for conquest. Behind, was a blood red stallion controlled by war. Next, came the black rider of plague, its grotesque form lining the gray sky. Finally, the pale horse of Death strode over the dark horizon, thirsty for the souls of the living. Together the riders make their way to the material plane, to uphold a prophecy that, in their own nature, seems ironic. They make their way to the salvation of the living, as protectors of Dresedor. Through the divine three: Pelor, Vecna, and Kord, the prophecy of an end awaits the peaceful lands of this time. They call upon Thei’lu, the Aspect of the Underworld, as a last attempt to bring aid to Dresedor. The powerful priest, Vincent Kane, travelled to the fiery depths to plea his case. His reasoning seemed futile, no humanoid could sway the likes of an Aspect. However, Kane made an arugment that not even the powerful Thei’lu could ignore. “Our race is not threatened by the likes of a nation at war, nor the threat of a great plague. No storm, great wind, or hurricane takes hold on these lands. There is an evil in search of our very being. The darkness that is spreading over this land comes from necrotic magic, from a source that measures up to even your great power, Aspect Thei’lu.” The great leathery beast, his four arms and ripped wings hunched down, staring directly into the eyes of Vincent Kane, croaked in a deep voice. “I am afraid of no power on your lesser plane! I have no reason to fret in simplicities that do not concern my world.” Kane began to grin. “You don’t quite understand great one. This threat the betrothes my world of existence affects you as much as it does myself. The great power that is seeking destruction, is doing it through the souls of the living. They are capturing and absorbing our very essence. It is you mighty Thei’lu who devours the souls of our most pitiful and dark people. With the destruction of our people, and more importantly, our souls…you great Aspect will be left with a desolate Underworld.” Aspect Thei’lu was set back. He didn’t fully trust this divine messenger; however, he was smart enough to not take his words as simple fallacy. “I will send four of my greatest descendents…the Horseman. They will take on the task of salvaging your pitiful plane of existence. This is what I will do for you Vincent Kane. Now rid yourself of this world!” With a grin, Vincent Kane turned and left the chamber of the great Aspect.
